FAQ

Your questions, explained.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Your full consultation and treatment explanation can be in English.

What is seitai?

Seitai is Japanese manual bodywork focused on the spine, joints and muscles. At LaTokyo, a nationally licensed judo-therapist uses an anatomy-based approach and explains each step.

Is it painful / do you crack the neck?

There is no forceful cracking. Adjustments are explained beforehand, and we check how the pressure feels. Please tell us if you feel uncomfortable.

Can tourists book a single session?

Yes. Visitors can book a one-off 60 or 90-minute session. No membership required.

How do I book in English?

Follow Book online to Square, select a service and choose an available time. The booking interface may appear in Japanese. For help in English, contact us on WhatsApp or Instagram DM.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB are accepted. Ask before booking if you need to confirm another payment method.

How much does it cost?

First visit: 60 min ¥15,000; 90 min ¥20,000; Premium 120 min ¥17,500. Regular: 60 min ¥20,000; 90 min ¥30,000; Premium 90 min ¥35,000. All prices include tax.

Where exactly are you?

1-34-15 Ebisu-Nishi B1F, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0021, Japan. We are 3 min from Daikanyama Station, 7 min from Ebisu Station and 8 min from Nakameguro Station on foot.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that lets you move is recommended. Let us know when booking if you need a change of clothes.

Can I visit for jet lag / travel fatigue?

Yes. Tell us about stiffness after a long flight or a day of walking. We assess how your body is moving before the session; we do not promise to resolve jet lag.

Seitai vs chiropractic vs seikotsuin — what's the difference?

Seitai and chiropractic describe approaches to hands-on care, while seikotsuin is a Japanese facility term. Check the individual practitioner’s credentials and the service offered. At LaTokyo, your practitioner holds a Japanese national judo-therapist license and provides private-pay seitai.

Is the therapist licensed? What is a judo-therapist?

Yes. Gustavo Tatsuya Kawabe holds the Japanese national qualification 柔道整復師, translated here as Judo Therapist. This is a professional qualification, not a title for a judo sports instructor.

Does Japanese health insurance cover this?

No. Sessions at LaTokyo are private-pay services and are not covered by Japanese health insurance.

Can I come the same day? How far in advance should I book?

Check the online calendar for available appointments. Book ahead when your plans are fixed. For a same-day enquiry, you can also contact us on WhatsApp.

Do you do hotel visits or outcalls?

No. All sessions take place at our Daikanyama studio.

Can couples or friends book together?

Please book consecutive appointments, one person at a time. Contact us if you need help finding adjacent slots.

What if I'm pregnant?

Please contact us before booking with your stage of pregnancy and how you are feeling, so we can discuss whether a session is suitable.

Is there a refund if I'm not satisfied?

First visit: not convinced, full refund. Please contact us with any concerns or questions about the refund process.

Do you take cash?

Please ask before booking if you wish to pay in cash.

Can I bring a translator or friend?

Please contact us before booking with the number of people and your needs. The full consultation and treatment explanation are available in English.

What happens at the first visit?

We discuss your concerns, assess posture and movement, explain and carry out the bodywork, then review your movement and share advice for daily life.

10:00–20:00, with irregular days off. See the booking calendar and reserve before visiting.
